James River Wrestling was represented Monday night by the Roanoke Valley Wrestling Association at the 2019 Hall Of Fame Induction Banquet Dinner for 2 outstanding awards.

1. Junior Caleb Shipwash was honored to be awarded the 2019 Roanoke Valley Wrestling Associations Roy Stanley Outstanding Achievement Award for the entire Roanoke Valley. Caleb was nominated and chosen as a finalist for his outstanding achievements for the 2018 - 2019 wrestling season, most specifically his come from behind win in the Regional Championship. This marks the first time in James River High School History that such an award has been awarded to a James River High School Wrestler. Congrats Caleb.

2. Head Coach Bobby Stewart was awarded the 2019 Roanoke Valley Wrestling Association's Coach Of The Year award. This also marks the first time in school history that such an award has been given to a JRHS Wrestling coach. Coach Stewart was nominated as a finalist over all other coaches in the Roanoke Valley for the team accomplishments this past year. Those include finishing 11th in the 2A VHSL State tournament from 24th the year before. Also qualifying 12 of 14 wrestlers for the state tournament in the 2018 - 2019 season from qualifying 6 wrestlers the year before. Congrats Coach Stewart.
